Curiosity is an e-learning startup that collects and organizes the web’s best learning content, all in one place. I spent 6 months collaborating with Curiosity’s Social Media and Content Manager to plan and conceptualize ideas for “memes” (an attention-grabbing, easily shareable graphic) to be posted on social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+) and on the Curiosity web site. The memes were fun, interesting, and memorable facts based on content from the site. These memes included infographics, quotes, eye-catching graphics, and other visual displays of information. We wanted to quickly capture the attention of our social media followers and spark their curiosities so much that they would share the meme and follow the link to the site to learn more by watching the related video(s).
In those 6 months, Facebook followers have grown by almost 200,000 and the memes reach over 1 million. Other large content providers, such as Discovery News, Animal Planet, I F**king Love Science, SciShow, and The Brain Scoop have picked up and shared our memes.
